Paragliding World Cup Switzerland, 2024 : press release

  • May 04 2024

From the 5th to the 11th of May, 130 of the world’s best paragliding pilots will compete in the first event of the 2024 Paragliding World Cup Season.

The event will take place in Grindelwald – Interlaken, Switzerland. The area  is famous for the stunning views of lakes, snowy peaks and green valleys. It is among the best flying areas in the world for paragliding, hosting competitions regularly.

The area provides excellent flying opportunities with varied and tactically interesting tasks in the high alpine scenery of the Eiger-Mönch-Jungfrau, Schilthorn and the surrounding lakes. This year the peaks are still covered in a lot of snow and the temperatures are lower than the average for this month.

There favorite landing will be the heart of Interlaken, the Swiss hotspot for action & fans and starting point for a variety of mountain & nature experiences

With many strong pilots the action promises to be intense. Will Christian MAURER – winner of the PWC 2008 Grindelwald – be able to defend his win in front of strong competitors like Baptiste LAMBERT and  Maxime Pinot? In the women’s category the situation is interesting with Violeta Jimenez, Alexia Fischer and Jenny ONeil  who recently competed in the 13th Paragliding World Cup Superfinal, in Brazil.

Gathering pilots from all over the world, the first event of the 2024 Season is expected to be intense, with many athletes who would like to start the season with a win.
