Faster Conditions on Task 3: Sassudelli Takes First PWC Win in Panchgani
Feb 17 2026
Task 3 of the Paragliding World Cup in Panchgani, India, brought a change in conditions, with a more complex forecast and stronger southerly winds leading to a shorter launch window. Pilots needed to be efficient on takeoff to position themselves well before the start.
For the first time in the competition, clouds formed along the course, combining with stronger thermals to create faster conditions. Compared to the previous tasks, the race pace was noticeably higher, with pilots able to move quickly and link climbs more efficiently.
The task was won by Davide Sassudelli, marking his first ever Paragliding World Cup task victory. A strong and well-timed flight secured him the top position on a fast day.
Michael Sigel finished in third place, a result that moves him into the overall lead after three tasks, thanks to consistent performances since the start of the competition.
In the women’s classification, Jun Yomo took the task win.
With increasing speeds and changing conditions, Task 3 added another dimension to the competition in Panchgani.
