Breitinger Wins Task 1 on New Gin Boomerang RFC

The Paragliding World Cup in Panchgani, India, got underway today with the first official task of the competition — and it delivered an excellent start to the event. After several days of slightly more demanding conditions leading up to the competition, pilots were welcomed by a much friendlier airmass on task day.

Conditions proved to be very good, with strong, well-formed thermals and notably calmer winds compared to the days prior. The reduced wind allowed climbs to feel powerful yet smooth, giving pilots the confidence to push. Cloudbase reached around 3,000 meters, providing generous working altitude and opening the door for fast, efficient racing across the course.

Panchgani had already shown its potential just before the competition, when Swiss pilots Noé Court and Jean Morisetti set a new site record of 152 kilometers. Today, Switzerland once again demonstrated its strength in the air.

Dominik Breitinger took the win on Task 1 with an impressive performance, closely followed by fellow Swiss pilot Michael Sigel in second place. Once again, Swiss pilots proved difficult to beat under these conditions. Notably, Breitinger secured his victory flying the brand new Gin Boomerang RFC glider — a highly anticipated wing that, as we hear, is expected to be released soon.

With excellent conditions, high speeds, and strong performances right from the very first task, Panchgani has set the stage for an exciting World Cup. If today is any indication, there is plenty more to come.
