Krushevo Task 5 – A Task for the bold

  • Jul 27 2025

As the competition entered its final stretch, Task 5 delivered exactly what one would expect from a high-stakes day in Krushevo: strong conditions, tactical gambles, and bold flying. With an 80 km race set and many pilots still within striking distance of the podium, the stage was set for an intense showdown.

Early climbs soared up to 3000 m, giving pilots a strong start. But once underway, the day demanded more than just altitude — thermals became broken and inconsistent, forcing quick decisions and constant adaptation. The pressure was on, and many seized the moment to attack, knowing that a decisive move could completely reshuffle the rankings.

Honorin Hamard took that gamble — and it paid off. Charging ahead alone for much of the task, he navigated the difficult conditions with precision and confidence, reaching goal nearly five minutes ahead of the chasing pack. His win catapulted him into second place overall.

Also flying her own race with grit and style was Daphnée Ieropoli, who finished an impressive 8th overall on her Zeno 2, making her one of just 16 pilots to reach goal and the clear winner of the day in the women’s field.

Task 5 was not just about speed — it was about nerve, intuition, and the ability to adapt when the skies shifted. For those who rose to the challenge, it was a day to remember.
