Krushevo Task 3 – Strong Climbs, Smart Lines, and a Victory for Andy Tallia

  • Jul 25 2025

Kruševo, Macedonia – July 24, 2025

With forecasts promising stronger thermals and more clouds, pilots launched into Task 3 of the Paragliding World Cup in Krushevo, North Macedonia under hot valley temperatures nearing 39°C. A 93.1 km optimized task was set, with a mix of thermic power and tricky air layers to navigate.

Despite the scorching heat in the flats, the day offered solid climbs up to +5 m/s above the 2150 m inversion, and a working convergence line stretching north from launch brought good Cu development around midday. While the WNW wind remained weak aloft, easterly valley breezes below the inversion added complexity to the lower layers — meaning line choice was once again absolutely critical.

Most of the field was airborne well ahead of the 12:45 start, preparing for a race that would demand patience, speed, and sharp tactical decisions. Early on, Maxime Pinot led much of the task, flying aggressively and holding the pace. But it was Andy Tallia who timed his moves perfectly, choosing a smarter line in the final section and overtaking the lead to claim the task win.

In the women’s category, it was Violeta Jimenez who soared to the top, handling the conditions with precision and speed.

Task 3 delivered classic Krushevo racing: fast, technical, and rewarding for those who read the air just right.
