Task 6 Stopped Before Start as Storm Development Accelerates

For Task 6 of the Paragliding World Cup in Feltre, the day began with cautious optimism. Due to expected overdevelopment in the main area, the decision was made to relocate the task to Bassano, hoping for better conditions there.

Pilots made the drive and gathered for a briefing on launch, but already during the preparations, clouds began to build rapidly in the background. While pilots managed to take off, the storm system intensified much faster than expected, quickly raising safety concerns.

Before the start gate could even open, the task was stopped, with the sky above Bassano making it clear that flying further would not be safe.

Though the race didn’t get a chance to begin, the quick reaction ensured all pilots stayed safe. With just one more day to go, the leaderboard remains tight—and all eyes are on the final opportunity to race in the Italian Alps.
