Task Cancelled Due to Increasing Wind

  • Jun 12 2025

With strong southerly winds in the forecast, a task was set for 12:00, and pilots headed to launch early to make the most of the window. The goal was to start flying as soon as possible before the wind picked up further.

However, takeoffs progressed slowly, as conditions on launch became increasingly tricky. Strong wind and turbulence above the cliff made it challenging and potentially unsafe to get airborne. At the same time, pilots on landing reported rising wind speeds, confirming that the day’s conditions weren’t improving.

To ensure the safety of all pilots, the task was cancelled at 11:37. While not the outcome we hoped for, the decision was clear and necessary given the circumstances.
