Paragliding World Cup Returns to China: Linzhou Set to Host Round Two of the 2025 Season

The Paragliding World Cup is returning to China—and to Linzhou—marking a highly anticipated second round of the 2025 season. From 7 to 14 June, the world’s top pilots will gather once again in one of Asia’s most celebrated flying arenas.

Beyond its natural beauty, Linzhou is also rich in cultural heritage. Pilots and visitors can experience traditional Chinese hospitality, explore local cuisine, and visit historical sites that reflect the region’s deep-rooted history. The vibrant local community warmly welcomes international guests, making this World Cup stop both a thrilling sporting challenge and a memorable cultural experience.

The Taihang Canyon Scenic Area offers spectacular flying conditions with rugged canyon landscapes and diverse terrain that challenges pilots with a mix of mountain and valley flying tasks. Situated on the eastern edge of the Taihang Mountains, Linzhou Mountain boasts a wide launch area and a vertical drop exceeding 800 meters to the valley below. Thermals average 5–6 m/s in June, with potential climbs reaching up to 4,700 meters, providing some of the most technical and demanding race conditions in the world.

This second round of the 2025 World Cup season brings together over 120 elite international pilots, ready to battle in these fierce alpine conditions. Among the favorites are Baptiste Lambert, who has already claimed victory at Linzhou in a previous edition, alongside Honorin Hamard, Hippolyte Melo, Stan Radzikowski, and Tilen Ceglar — all known for their strategic skills and tactical precision. In the women’s field, Galen Kirkpatrick and Jenny O’Neil, both representing the USA, are poised to challenge the front with their sharp consistency and proven racecraft.

This event also marks an important milestone for the World Cup in Asia, building on the momentum of successful Asian Tour events in recent years. With clear skies, technical terrain, and a high-caliber field of pilots, Linzhou is set to deliver an unforgettable chapter in the 2025 season.
