Task 5: A Dream Flight Ending at the Beach
- May 17 2025

Algodonales, Spain – May 16, 2025
Task 5 of the Paragliding World Cup turned into an unforgettable day, combining strong flying conditions with one of the most scenic landings imaginable: touching down right on the beach.
With a cloud base reaching up to 2500m, the 113.8 km optimized task led the pilots from the rugged mountains of Algodonales all the way south to the coast. Conditions were booming, and the race was fast-paced, with the first pilots completing the course in just 2 hours and 30 minutes, averaging 43 km/h.
But what made this task truly special wasn’t just the speed—it was the final glide over the sea, transitioning from thermals over green hills to a smooth descent onto golden sand, surrounded by sun, surf, and cheering spectators. Many pilots called it one of the most beautiful and memorable Tasks of their careers.
Flavio Funiati claimed the men’s task win, while Violeta Jimenez once again topped the women’s field. With only one task left, Andy Tallia and Alexia Fischer are holding onto their leads—but after a day like this, it’s clear that the memories made in Algodonales will last just as long as the trophies.
