Clement Latour Masters the Wind in Task 4 of the PWC Algodonales

Algodonales, Spain – May 15, 2025
After a weather-related break on Day 4, the Paragliding World Cup in Algodonales resumed with Task 4 on Day 5, which brought strong winds but also some impressive flying. With conditions still on the windier side, the 56km optimized task was set with a 14:30 start, keeping it relatively short and sharp.
Despite the wind, every pilot managed to take off over an hour before the race start, demonstrating remarkable takeoff skills in strong conditions—a true showcase of PWC-level control and experience.
In the air, the task unfolded with mixed reports from pilots: while some struggled to climb out once low, fighting against the wind in tricky spots, others experienced great conditions even at lower altitudes. This task became a perfect example of how quickly and locally conditions can shift, with different parts of the course offering completely different flying experiences.
Task winner Clement Latour praised the day’s conditions, saying simply: “It worked very well, conditions were great and we could have flown double the distance”.
Task 4 might have been short, but it was a reminder of the nuance and variability in paragliding—and just how much it comes down to timing, reading the air, and staying adaptable.
