Honorin Hamard Soars to Victory in Task 3 After Tricky Takeoff in Algodonales
- May 14 2025

Algodonales, Spain – May 13, 2025
Task 3 of the Paragliding World Cup in Algodonales served up a mix of uncertainty and soaring highs. The day began under overcast skies, delaying the task’s start. But as the cloud base gradually lifted to around 2000 meters, the skies opened up to booming conditions—ideal for racing once airborne.
The real challenge of the day, however, came on the ground: strong crosswinds at takeoff turned the launch into a nerve-wracking exercise, demanding precision and patience from the pilots.
In the end, it was Honorin Hamard who made the most of the conditions, claiming the task win after launching just 20 minutes before the start gate opened. As luck would have it, the final few pilots to take off caught a perfect thermal cycle, putting them in a stronger starting position than many who had been waiting aloft for much longer.
Once in the air, pilots were relieved to find lighter winds than on previous days, making for a more relaxed and enjoyable race.
As the competition unfolds, strategy, timing, and a bit of luck continue to play major roles—just as we saw today with Honorin’s well-timed climb to the top.
These results are provisional until complaints are processed.
