Algodonales, Spain – May 11, 2025
After weeks of poor weather across the region, the skies finally cleared just in time for the start of the Paragliding World Cup in Algodonales. Day one welcomed pilots with solid flying conditions—moderate cloud base and strong winds shaping a demanding and dynamic race.
The task began with a challenging leg into the wind, testing the pilots’ skill. Once that was behind them, the pace picked up significantly, allowing for high-speed racing along the north-eastern section of the course.
Baptiste Lambert showed early form by claiming the first task win with 996.6 points, followed by Andy Tallia with 991.5 points. In the women’s category, Violeta Jimenez delivered a fantastic flight, placing 6th overall and taking the top spot among the women.
Anticipation is high for the next tasks in what promises to be a thrilling week of competition in southern Spain.
