Challenging Task 4 Amid Low Clouds at PWCA Bir 2024

  • Nov 07 2024

PWCA Asian Tour India, Bir, 2024 – daily report : Task 4

After weather challenges forced the cancellation of day 3’s task due to an low cloud base, conditions remained similarly tricky for task 4 at the Paragliding World Cup in Bir. The cloud base remained low, posing a challenge for safe flying, but organizers devised a creative solution: a compact, zigzag course with multiple cylinders nested within each other, sending pilots back and forth across the valley.

The unusual task structure turned out to be an ideal choice, allowing competitors to navigate safely despite the low ceiling. In hazy, almost mystical conditions, pilots threaded their way through the course, creating a unique and visually striking race.

Despite the challenges, the task was completed successfully, demonstrating the skill and adaptability of the field.

The day belonged to Alexander Skvortsov, who managed to navigate the tight course with precision and took first place.
