PWCA Asian Tour India, Bir, 2024 – daily report : Task 2

Task two of the Paragliding World Cup Asian Tour in Bir, India, brought an unexpected turn in conditions, surprising pilots and adding intensity to the race. Initially, the forecast called for a more stable day, but once all pilots were airborne, the conditions turned out to be far better than anticipated, with stronger climbs and early cloud formation offering ample lift.

Austin Cox once again demonstrated his skill and strategic precision, securing his second task win of the event. When asked about his approach for the day, Cox shared, “Stay with the gaggle! And then I got to make a move right at the end.”

The final stretch added a thrilling twist as pilots faced the challenge of crossing a ridge to reach the end of the speed section. “There were a couple of gliders in front of me, but they couldn’t tag it and had to climb,” Cox explained. “I was able to sneak over and tag it!

Cox’s well-timed move at the end allowed him to surge ahead and claim victory. With back-to-back wins, he’s established himself as a strong contender in this leg of the World Cup.
