13th Paragliding World Cup Super Final (2023 Season) Baixo Guandu, Brazil :  March 5th – 16th 2024 : Task 8 // Final report & Podiums

  • Mar 17 2024

The final task of this Superfinal began with slightly overcast skies but before launch improved to nice clouds and a light northwesterly wind. The 88.9km task took pilots to the northeast for the first turnpoint, passing over the picturesque town of Pancas, also known as “Jurassic Park,” before returning to the goal at the airport in Baixo Guandu.

The start was delayed until 12:45 due to challenging launch conditions similar to those of the previous days. As the start time approached, conditions deteriorated, making takeoff very difficult for the pilots. At 11:57, the decision was made to cancel the task. It was evident that a safe and fair task was not feasible under such unsafe takeoff conditions.

Despite the cancellation of the last task, we had seven beautiful and challenging tasks here in Baixo Guandu. Conditions were not as strong as usual, but pilots still managed to make it work, showing what the best pilots in the world can accomplish.

With the final task canceled, Honorin Hamard emerged as the winner of the 13th Paragliding World Cup Superfinal with 4237.1 points after completing 7 tasks, followed by Baptiste Lambert and Joachim Oberhauser. That’s a repeat win for Honorin! And for the women, winner is Meryl Delferriere, followed by Alexia Fischer and Constance Mettetal. The team podium has Ozone on top, followed by Niviuk 1 and Alas del Hombre.

And this year we are introducing a new trophy, the Season Team Winner. And the winner of the inaugural prize, is Team Ozone!
